FOCUSED ON FAMILY LAW & YOU
Richard S. Diamond, Esq. is the founder and managing partner of Diamond & Diamond, P.A., a highly respected divorce and family law firm with its main office in Short Hills, New Jersey. With over 40 years of legal practice in New Jersey and 38 years dedicated exclusively to all divorce and family law, Mr. Diamond provides strategic, client-focused representation in complex matters, including high-net-worth divorces, post-divorce proceedings, business valuations tied to matrimonial disputes, child custody and parenting time issues, domestic violence cases, the preparation and review of prenuptial agreements, adoptions, and LGBTQ family law disputes. His approach emphasizes protecting clients’ interests while navigating sensitive family dynamics, whether through litigation, negotiation, or alternative dispute resolution.
Mr. Diamond is certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Matrimonial Trial Lawyer, a prestigious distinction awarded to fewer than 2% of licensed attorneys in the state, recognizing exceptional trial skills and experience in divorce, domestic violence, and family law cases. He is also a member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), an elite organization that demands rigorous peer review and demonstrated expertise in family law. Complementing his litigation skills, Mr. Diamond is an accredited divorce and family law mediator, with specialized authorization to handle economic mediation matters even in cases involving active domestic violence restraining orders, a qualification that underscores his ability to manage intricate and high-stakes disputes. Additionally, he serves as a qualified divorce and family law arbitrator, acting as a neutral decision-maker in alternative dispute resolution processes to facilitate efficient, out-of-court resolutions.
Since the late 1980s, Mr. Diamond has been an active participant in the New Jersey Family Court System’s Early Settlement Panel (ESP) program in Union and Essex Counties, contributing to the resolution of numerous family law cases. He is a frequent lecturer on family law topics for continuing legal education programs, including those for the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education and the CPA Society, and has appeared as a guest expert on radio and television programs both in New Jersey and nationally. His professional affiliations include membership in the New Jersey State Bar Association (Family Law Section), Union County Bar Association (Family Law Section), Essex County Bar Association (Family Part), Somerset County Bar Association (Family Law Committee), and is a recognized Economic Mediator in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, and Union Counties.
